Two Holiday-Themed Painting Workshops for Families and Friends

SANTA FE, NM –  Santa Fe comes alive during the holidays! The aroma of baked goods and warm stews fills the air, and around every corner one can see festive decor. Brightly colored baubles adorn trees and garlands, and reflect the flickering light of the farolitos that line sidewalks, walls and paths. Santa Fe Art Classes.com is celebrating these symbols of the season in two holiday themed creative workshops. The first, a drop-in ornament painting class will be held on Saturday, December 12th from 11AM- 5PM. The second, a farolito painting class, will take place on Saturday, December 19th from 2-4PM.

“The richest, most memorable holidays are those spent joyfully with loved ones. I want to offer an opportunity for whole families to come together, enjoying one another in laughter, discovery, and exploration. You can begin a new, unforgettable family tradition by creating sweet paintings with grandchildren, children, and neighbors and friends!” says Robbi Firestone, founder of Santa Fe Art Classes. “Ornaments and the farolito/illuminarias are mainstays of winter in Santa Fe. Seeing them enliven our city is a major attraction to many residents and visitors. Showcasing these lovely ‘little lanterns’ and the iconic adobe architecture is a delightful way to celebrate the warm feelings associated with the genuine beauty of the Santa Fe holiday.”

Participants of the drop-in ornament painting class will create 6×6-inch paintings of the colorful trinkets. They will be able to select from a number of original images to use as a guide to their own painting, then be guided step-by-step through their painting. Participants will walk away with a piece that they can cherish for years to come. It is also a fun family activity and both children (over 6 years old) and adults are encouraged to to tap into their creative spirit.

Participants in the ornament workshop can either pre-register at the SantaFeArtClasses.com website or pay at the door on the day of the class. $20 per person.

Attendees of the farolito workshop will embrace Santa Fe’s rich cultural heritage by creating a piece based on the interplay of the city’s unique architecture and the festivity of the farolitos. They will select from two source images to inspire their own works in a 2-hour, step-by-step, guided painting class.

Those interested in the Farolito Painting Workshop can register at SantaFeArtClasses.com. $45 per person.

“The holidays are a time of such warmth and joy in Santa Fe, and using creativity to celebrate this time will only make these works more meaningful for years to come,” concludes Firestone.
